What’s a lenticular?

The word “lenticular” has many, varied applications. It applies, in various ways, to a form of printing, to convex lenses, to a kind of cloud. This site wasn’t named for any of these in particular. We can’t wring any cheap symbolism or deep hidden meaning from the word. To put it simply, we liked the sound of the word, we liked the vagueness, we liked the syllables. How the sharp Ls bracket the word, reining in the bulk. How it seethes, how it leers.

One interesting word, related to “lenticular,” is “lenticel.” Lenticels transfer air from tree bark to the core of the trees. This is a kind of tree language. It’s an actual thing. Like they say, the language of bark is different from the bark of language.
